Route Types and Cost Differences

Route names are not simply speed tiers. IEPL dedicated lines, relays, and direct connections use different access paths, with different behavior and resource costs under network fluctuations, long-distance transmission, and regional exit requirements. Choose based on use case first, distance second, and then compare actual connection results in the same region.

IEPL dedicated lines focus on coordinated routing between the access segment and the cross-border backbone. Because data does not rely entirely on random routing across the public internet through key cross-border sections, they can reduce uncertainty caused by detours and complex paths. They suit scenarios where connection continuity matters, such as remote work, extended meetings, cross-region file transfers, sustained AI tool use, and tasks that need an active session during busy evening hours.

Dedicated-line resources require more deliberate path coordination and capacity planning, so their resource cost is generally higher than that of relays and direct connections. They are not the automatic choice for every situation: when the target service is nearby, a well-performing relay may be sufficient; for occasional web access, a direct route may meet your needs. Evaluate a dedicated line by connection stability, not by its name alone.

RELAY Mid-range resource cost

Relay Route

A relay route sends the connection to a more suitable entry point first, then forwards it to the target region. Its main purpose is to avoid poor-quality or inefficient direct exits and adjust the cross-border path through the entry location. More hops do not automatically mean slower performance; with a suitable entry point, the overall route may be more stable than a standard direct connection. Relays are also useful for common destinations such as Japan, Singapore, the U.S. West Coast, and major European cities.

Relay routes generally have resource costs and scheduling complexity between dedicated lines and direct connections. They work well for everyday browsing, streaming, routine work, and most AI tool access. If one relay performs poorly, try another entry point in the same region before switching to a distant country. Keeping the destination region fixed while changing the entry point usually makes the source of the issue easier to identify.

Direct Route

A direct route connects your current network directly to a server in the target region without an additional access relay. Its simpler path suits stable network environments, nearby destinations, or situations requiring an exit in a specific region. Direct routes also help extend coverage to more distant regions, giving the service a broader choice of countries and cities.

Direct routes usually have lower resource costs, but their actual paths depend more on local carriers and routing across the public international network. When a cross-border exit is congested or the path changes, results may vary by network. Do not judge a direct route by city distance alone; the same route may perform differently on home broadband, an office network, and a mobile network. Verify it on the device and network you are currently using.

Choose a Route by Use Case

The goal is not to find one node that never changes, but to find a suitable combination of your current network, target service, and exit region. The methods below do not rely on performance rankings and can be applied directly in the client.

Everyday Browsing

Start with nearby regions, then compare route types

For opening websites, researching information, and using online tools, start with geographically nearby regions. In Asia, consider Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan first; depending on where you are, choose an exit close to both your location and the target website. Nearby does not always mean best, but it avoids unnecessary long-distance paths and is a sensible starting point.

If a page opens but images, scripts, or the sign-in flow do not load properly, switch to an IEPL dedicated line or relay in the same region. If only one website behaves abnormally while others work, the cause is more likely the site’s regional policy, exit recognition, or account status. There is no need to cycle through multiple countries.

Streaming

The exit region must match the content region

When watching regional content, first confirm which country or region the content belongs to, then choose the corresponding exit. Use a Japan route for Japan content, a U.S. route for U.S. content, and a U.K. route for U.K. content. “Supported” in the directory means the route may be suitable for accessing content from that region; it does not guarantee an unchanged catalog, account entitlement, or regional policy.

If the platform homepage opens but content will not play, first sign out of the platform app, switch to another route in the same region, and restart the app. Refreshing only the playback page may retain the previous regional result. Also check whether the account registration region, payment region, and app store region match the target content. These conditions are controlled by the platform; a route can provide the corresponding exit but cannot change the account’s own regional attributes.

AI Tools

Keep the exit region consistent and minimize switching during a session

When using AI tools such as Gemini, regional availability, account status, and exit location can all affect access. Start with a region supported by the target service and keep using that region where possible. During long conversations, file uploads, or ongoing tasks, avoid switching between countries repeatedly, as an exit change may trigger a new sign-in or interrupt an active request.

For everyday text interactions, start with a relay in a nearby region; when a session must remain active for a long time, compare an IEPL dedicated line in the same region. If the page opens but account features are unavailable, check the provider’s account-region rules before changing routes. Browser cache, an old sign-in state, and extensions can also affect the result; use a fresh browser session for cross-checking.

Gaming

Prioritize the game server location over the content region

Choose game routes based on the actual server region, not the country where the publisher is based. For a Japan server, compare Japan routes first; for a Singapore server, compare Singapore routes first. If the game lets you choose a server region, confirm it in the game before selecting the same or a nearby region in the client.

When consistent input and session continuity matter, test an IEPL dedicated line first, then compare a relay in the same region. Network acceleration can optimize the path between your local network and the target region, but it cannot change the game server’s own status, matchmaking, or maintenance schedule. If sign-in works but a match behaves abnormally, also check game updates, background downloads, the local Wi-Fi network, and server-region status rather than attributing every issue to the exit route.

Remote Work

A stable region and session matter more than frequent switching

Remote desktops, online meetings, code repositories, corporate dashboards, and cloud documents usually require persistent sessions. Prefer an IEPL dedicated line or relay near the target system’s region, and keep the exit region stable during work hours. If an enterprise system flags regional sign-ins, switching countries frequently may trigger additional verification. After testing, stay with the region that performs appropriately.

Before transferring important files, open the target system and complete a routine action to confirm that sign-in, the upload entry point, and permissions work properly. If the connection drops, do not cycle through several distant nodes. Reconnect to the original route first, then try an alternative in the same region. This makes it easier to tell whether the issue comes from the local network, current node, or target system.

ROUTE METHOD

A Repeatable Route-Selection Process

When several countries and cities are available, identify the target service region first, then choose a nearby city. Next, compare IEPL dedicated lines, relays, and direct connections in that region. Change only one condition at a time during testing; changing the country, client, and local network simultaneously makes it impossible to know what caused the result.

To assess whether a route is suitable, check whether the target page loads completely, the account stays signed in, video plays continuously, meetings remain stable, and file tasks finish normally. Do not draw conclusions from the route name alone or treat a brief fluctuation as a long-term condition. Network paths are jointly affected by local access, carrier exits, the target service, and background tasks on the device.

If several routes in the same region cannot complete the task, stop switching repeatedly and test on another network. If the other network works, focus on the current router, Wi-Fi signal, DNS settings, or carrier path. If results are the same across networks, check the target service status, account region, and client subscription updates.

COVERAGE NOTES

Understanding Coverage

“90+ countries / 200+ routes” describes the overall coverage scale. It does not mean every country uses the same route types or that every city offers IEPL dedicated lines, relays, and direct connections simultaneously. Regional demand, access conditions, and resource costs vary, so route configurations differ.

Country Coverage and City Exits

Country coverage helps determine whether an exit in the target region is available; the city exit narrows the path further. For services with strict content-region requirements, the country usually matters more than the city. For gaming, work, and cross-region collaboration, cities near the target server deserve priority. The directory lists representative cities; the complete list is based on the current subscription shown in the user dashboard.

Route Names and Actual Results

IEPL dedicated lines, relays, and direct connections describe how routes are organized; they do not produce uniform results on every local network. Home broadband, office networks, and mobile networks use different exits, so the same route may feel different. When several nodes are available in one region, compare them on the same device, local network, and target service.

Limits of Streaming Status

Streaming platforms assess content availability using the exit, account, payment region, app version, and their own policies. A Supported status in the route directory is for initial filtering only and is not a promise that a specific catalog will remain available indefinitely. When a regional notice appears, check the account conditions first, then try an alternative route in the same region and restart the app for a fresh check.

Using Multiple Devices
